The questions everyone asks before patching in a client mod.
Discord's terms don't officially permit client mods, and using one carries some inherent risk, same as any Vencord-based fork. In practice, widescale bans for local client mods like this are rare, but PatchCord can't make guarantees about Discord's enforcement decisions.
Stable and PTB are fully supported. Canary hasn't been verified against the current build — see the compatibility table on the download page before installing there.
PatchCord patches your local client and syncs the settings you choose to a PatchCord cloud instance. It doesn't read your messages or forward account data anywhere beyond that sync.
The desktop installer keeps itself patched automatically. Browser extensions need to be re-downloaded manually from the download page when a new build ships.
Plugins are submitted by the community and reviewed before they're merged into a build, on top of everything that already ships with base Vencord.
